Gog and Magog -  Ezekiel 38

Note: In Bible prophecy of the End Times, nations are called by their ancestor names as seen in the Table of Nations in Genesis 10. The reason for this is that these are the ancestral names of the nations. God, in His wisdom, knows that names of countries may change and so He made sure Scripture had the original ancestor name so that we would know, at any point in world history, what nation End Time prophecy is referring to.

Ezekiel 38:2 [...] set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog [RUSSIA], the prince of Rosh [not in Table of Nations], Meshech [European Russia], and Tubal [Asiatic Russia], and prophesy against him [Russia has (a) supplied arms to the Muslim world and (b) has blocked sanctions against the armament of Iran],

3 [say to him] I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. 4 I will turn you around, [...] and lead you out, with all your army [...].

5 Persia [IRAN], Cush [Ethiopia also Sudan and Somalia], and Put [Libya and parts of North Africa] are with them [with the previous nations mentioned]

6 Gomer [Eastern Europe] and all its troops; the house of Togarmah [TURKEY] from the far north and all its troops [...].

7 “Prepare yourself and be ready [...] and be a guard for them [all these nations - Iran, Russia, Turkey -  are involved now in Syria, north of Israel. They are there because this will be their springboard to attack Israel.]

8 [...] In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword [those brought back from persecution, diaspora and the Holocaust] and gathered [in] Israel, which had long been desolate [ISRAEL was desolate for 2 millennia: AD 70 until 1948]; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell safely.

9 You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops and many peoples with you.” ["cloud" may suggest air attack (airplanes and/or missile launch)]

10 ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan:

11 You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’ [Israel complacent and neutralized because of a false/temporary peace brought on by a treaty]

12 to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations [the Jews], who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land.

Sheba [United Arab Emirates], Dedan [SAUDI ARABIA ¹],

the merchants of Tarshish [may refer to Western Europe and/or multinational powerful companies associated with oil production in the Middle East],

and all their young lions [the smaller countries dependent on these powers/companies; for example, the United Kingdom (has the symbol of a lion) and United States of America (which in itself derives from the UK)]

will say to you, ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty [the resources of Israel; recently very rich natural gas and oil discovered far higher quality than that of Russia and Saudi Arabia],

to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods [the great prosperity that Israel has far above all nations in the Middle East and most nations in the World], to take great plunder?’”’ [Saudi Arabia, USA, UK seem to be allied with Israel but do not come to its rescue. When Israel is under attack they are simply protesting, they do nothing else.]

14 “Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it?

15 Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army.

16 You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.”

17 Thus says the Lord God: “Are you he of whom I have spoken in former days by My servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied for years in those days that I would bring you against them? Judgment on Gog

18 “And it will come to pass at the same time, when Gog comes against the land of Israel,” says the Lord God, “that My fury will show in My face.

19 For in My jealousy and in the fire of My wrath I have spoken: ‘Surely in that day there shall be a great earthquake in the land of Israel,

20 so that the fish of the sea, the birds of the heavens, the beasts of the field, all creeping things that creep on the earth, and all men who are on the face of the earth shall shake at My presence. The mountains shall be thrown down, the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.’

21 I will call for a sword against Gog throughout all My mountains,” says the Lord God. “Every man’s sword will be against his brother.

22 And I will bring him to judgment with pestilence and bloodshed; I will rain down on him, on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, flooding rain, great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

23 Thus I will magnify Myself and sanctify Myself, and I will be known in the eyes of many nations. Then they shall know that I am the Lord.”’

Nations that will invade Israel in Ezekiel 38 End Time prophecy:

The nations that will invade Israel mentioned here are all Islamic today (or have a large Islamic population), even though Ezekiel 38 was written 1000 years before Islam existed.

Nations that will NOT invade Israel in Ezekiel 38 End Time prophecy:

EGYPT: Although Egypt was Israel's greatest recurring enemy it is absent from Ezekiel 38. Perhaps because of the 1979 peace treaty.

SAUDI ARABIA: although Muslim, also not attacking Israel in this prophecy. They were actually allies of America in both wars against Iraq and they are enemies of Iran.

Plan for the End Times

1. Barak Obama virtually gave up America's traditional role as a critical player in the Middle East and empowered Iran with the failed JPA deal.

2. Vladimir Putin opportunistically brought Russia to fill that vacuum during the Syrian Civil War and is now a more significant player in the Middle East.

3. The involvement of Iran, Russia and Turkey in Syria are a prelude to their attack on Israel. They are moving their troops into position.

4. Israel allied with the USA and Saudi Arabia (Suni Islam) (Ezekiel 38:13)

5. Iran (Shiite Islam) continues to head the Islamic plan to destroy the “Big Satan” (USA) and then “Little Satan” (Israel).

6. Iran has to destroy America or neutralize its alliance with Israel so that Israel is helpless in an attack.

7. America is destroyed from within; already happening with media-fueled division and fabric of society being brought to nought.

8. America is later destroyed ² from the outside by all or any of these powers: North Korea, China or Russia.

The fall of Iraq left the way open for Iran’s leadership of militant megalomaniac Islam.

Russia supports Assad Government to disguise their intention of initiating troop deployment in the area north of Israel.

Most of Damascus destroyed, while not yet entirely uninhabitable (Isaiah 17).

#1. 2017: Iran alliance with Syria

Iran comes to the “rescue” of Syria in an unofficial alliance. Iran's principal objective is to set up military installations in Syria close to Israel.

Iran befriends North Korea; a regime they have nothing in common except hatred for America.

Future World Events

Timeline leading to End Times

#1. America enters into full scale war in the Middle East

Syrian War finally draws America into a large scale Middle East confrontation that would be the “straw in the camel’s back” for her.

It would leave America (a) bankrupt, (b) partially destroyed, or (c) with its world reputation soiled.

#2. War between America and North Korea

North Korea might enter a war against America and then a significant part of both countries military capabilities would be physically destroyed (or the countries themselves).

#3. America neutralized; Iran attacks former allies

With America gone or neutralized Iran then turns to destroy Syria and further capitulate North Korea’s offensive capability.

Since these “allies” have served their purpose, Iran no longer needs or cares for them.

Syria is no longer in the picture; probably why it is not mentioned in Ezekiel 38.

#4. Iran attacks Israel

Iran attacks Israel through traditional Persian and Babylonian route

Once America is out of the way and cannot defend Israel and Syria is destroyed Iran (perhaps with the participation of other allied powers) can attack Israel unimpeded.

The End from the Beginning

Amazingly, this future attack on Israel confirms (yet again) Bible history as a foreshadow of the future. Consider these elements of the strike against Israel:

(a) The direction of the attack;

(b) The proportion of overwhelming enemy forces;

(c) The axis of advance using an ancient route.

These are the same characteristics we have observed as we have noted in the first Bible Battle recorded: the Battle of Siddim (c. 1833 BC).
